In this post, I’m not going to explain the hazards of single strand aluminum wiring, but I will describe the 3 approved methods of mitigating this potential safety issue.
- Have an electrician open every outlet, switch, fixture, and junction box to evaluate the connections and use approved fixtures and wire nuts.
- The same as above but instead of the wire nuts, use COPALUM connectors.
- Replace all branch circuit wiring. This is more important when copper and aluminum are mixed.
