Why should I get radon testing for my Maryland home?
→ If you are buying a home, ask your realtor because radon testing may be required depending on where the home is in Maryland. Even if it isn’t required in that jurisdiction, testing will give you better information to negotiate with the seller!
→ If you own a home, the EPA recommends you test every 3 years to ensure you and your family stay safe.
→ If you plan to rent out your home, new rental laws may require you to test before occupancy.
→ If you already have a mitigation system installed, testing will help confirm it is still working at maximum efficiency!
How do you test?
We perform certified testing. There are many options for Radon testing; DIY Home Kits sold at Big Box Stores are not usually accurate, and depending on your needs, Continuous Radon Monitoring (CRM) tests may be an unnecessarily high expense. Our solution at TTBS blends technology and accuracy with affordability.
→ We perform short-term, e-perm electret testing.
→ We leave this test kit on-site for a minimum of 48 hours, at which point one of our Certified Radon inspectors or technicians will collect the kit and bring it back to the lab for analysis.
→ All validated results are then communicated to the clients.
What if there is radon?
→ Take a breath… Seriously, it’s still ok to breathe inside your home! Mitigation costs have gone down dramatically in the last decade!
→ Buyers should always consult with their Realtor® first, regarding their contract terms.
→ Whether you are handling the mitigation arrangements for your own home, or helping the seller find a fair company to work with, give us a call! We have been doing this for 20 years and have vetted the top referrals in every industry to make sure our clients are always treated right!
