Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) Testing

What is the purpose of Indoor Air Quality Testing in Maryland?

If you are experiencing symptoms in your home that subside or completely go away when you leave your home, the air quality in your home may be the culprit. Some of the most common health symptoms you may experience from air quality include frequent headaches, dizziness, fatigue, nausea, confusion, coughing, wheezing, and eye, nose and throat irritation.
Another clue that your symptoms may be caused by your home’s air quality would be if you made any recent changes to the home. You know the “new smell” certain things have when you first get them? The chemicals used in manufacturing certain products—like flooring—could cause the air quality in your home to go down.

Is this a good test for Mold?

While this test will reveal if “Mold” is found in the air, it will not provide much more detail than that. In other words, it won’t be able to tell you the species of mold, or the prevalence of the spores in the air.
If you have reason to believe mold is the cause of your air quality issues, we recommend getting a Mold Air Spore Analysis instead.

Should I request Air Quality Testing in Maryland During The Scheduling Process?

If you would like an indoor air quality test performed in your Maryland home, you must let us know when you schedule it. The equipment for this test is rotated on an as-needed basis. Mentioning that you want this service added to your home inspection would ensure we reserve the equipment for your inspector’s use.
